Tanalith E

Tanalised E is a copper based wood preservative that was originally developed in Europe in the 1980's.   The primary preservative component is copper which provides protection against most decay types and termites.   A synthetic azole type co-biocide provides protection against copper tolerant organisms such as brown rot fungi.

Tanalised E in various forms and under other names is in use in over 20 countries around the world including the USA,, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark  (as well as other European countries) and, closer to home, New Zealand.  Copper based preservatives such as Tanalised E are viable alternatives to traditional preservatives and it is expected that use will increase in Australia over time.
